I took down the HWYLNS Debut EP. I will post it sometime in the future and hopefully in a better quality format. As for everything else… GET YOU’RE REMIX/COVER ON!
I was talking with a close friend/brother of mine the other day and we got to talking about the concept of having a sort of collective of musicians that release records back to back and play on eachothers records. I’m completely tantalized by this concept.
The way I see it is that the music that’s coming out of your bedroom/practice space/local show is so much more exciting than mainstream arena bands that are recording their 20th album in the studio this year. Well not to over exaggerate because some of those bands are amazing but I’m very excited by the songs you all write and record and post. All for our own reasons. And I feel like it’s so much more genuine than most music.
So what I’m I talking about here? Well, I like the idea of a collective of musicians that release albums affiliated with one another. Collaborate on albums. Guest play on eachother’s songs. Etc. All while retaining their own project and sound. It’s taken me quite awhile to realize this but all of you have such a unique and beautiful sound to bring to the table. When we form bands together we merge those qualities and mold them into something else new. When we stand apart and record our own songs they sound so much different. It’s incredible. What I’m saying here is that I want to talk more about you and your music. I’d like to hope you’ll talk about me too. Then maybe we can get closer and start sharing music more readily. Remix, cover, record, etc. I hope we can get to know eachother better.
Anyhow, that’s my rant for the day. These thoughts were inspired by a wonderful conversation with a close friend the other day. Go check out Matthew Snyder’s completed version of LetThem; Part I. This song reminds me a lot of Ris Paul Ric of Q And Not U fame. “Let the flowers grow where they fucking want!” I love the frank nature of the lyrics. The repeated vocal pattern following is genius. Mr. Snyder’s been posting some consistently beautiful guitar melodies sure to ease that soul of yours.
Good day all. Hope it’s a peaceful one. PMA
